Summer 2007 I visited Portland, Oregon for the first time. Upon retrieving my checked luggage I walked just outside the baggage claim and stepped into a sleek rail car. For the next half-hour or so, I enjoyed the rapid, quiet, and low-emission ride into downtown. The light rail delivered me to within one block of my hotel and I WAS HOOKED!
On Saturday, November 24, 2007 the much-awaited Charlotte Lynx Light Rail began operation of its South Corridor Blue Line.
